Eternal Family

I know that I said i would review Initial D, But I've been feeling lazy, I recently saw this on I think Veoh, so here's a short review of a short movie.

Eternal Family is about a "family" living in a home of some sort together, but in reality all but one of them has been brainwashed and they were all misfits they found living on the streets. They also made it into a reality show to rake in some money. None of them have seen the outside world except the "father", it's sort of like Big Brother, but more fucked up.

I wasn't sure that I would like this at first, at first glance this is one of things where it just seems like it's trying to confuse you, but about halfway through the movie it started to make a little more sense. All of them are batshit insane, the son has some issue with breathing or something because he almost always has an oxygen mask on, The mother has serious digestive problems, the baby runs around and cuts shit up with scissors... The older daughter has some fetish for fire and is always going on about some guy she misses, the younger daughter talks to herself with a hand puppet, and the dog.. the dog like inflates then barks real loud and.. makes a sonic boom or something, I have no idea what that's about.

The father is the only one that knows whats going on, at the beginning of the movie he talks to this guy in a cat suit (everyone that works for the network wears those damn things and it's creepy...), he pitches him an idea and he goes for it, then it shows the intro to the reality show. Anyways, the "father" i think from the start just desperately wants a family, and he grows to love the insane people he's locked up with. Eventually the family accidentally escapes and start to notice their pictures are everywhere because they're part of the most popular reality show in I assume the whole country.

The ending is very sudden and sort of sad, the animation is sort of weird but don't hold that against it because it fits so well with the movie. Some people would probably see this and write it off as complete random BS but pay attention and it's sort of a touching and twisted story (this is coming from a guy that still doesn't know what the hell Fooly Cooly was supposed to be about) I really thought this was good, I just wished it was a little longer.
